Senior Mechanical Engineer – Peachtree City, Georgia – Cooper Lighting
This position is responsible for the overall, hands‑on mechanical design of Cooper Lighting products and meeting the project schedule and budget.
Key Responsibilities

Work in conjunction with internal resources and remote engineering to create the overall project timeline, define deliverables and guide the team to completion.

Coordinate with Marketing to ensure project specifications are clear, complete, achievable and consistent with the voice of the customer.

Ensure design progression via CAD modeling reviews, thermal and mechanical analysis, drawing and model retention, testing plan creation, test review and coordination with internal and third‑party compliance.

Ensure project tooling budget and product cost requirements are met.

Coordinate with sourcing team to ensure vendors are identified, quotations are obtained, and quality standards/form deliverables are met.

5% international travel and 5% domestic travel required.
What you’ll need— Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field and 5+ years of related experience required.

Experience must include the following:
-
5+ years of experience in product design with lighting fixtures;
-
5+ years of experience with SolidWorks 3‑D modeling software;

3+ years of experience working with Thermal and Structural simulations.

Experience must also include:

SAP PLM;
-
Electrical and optical engineering principles and familiarity with all design, manufacturing and regulatory (UL, ES, etc.) aspects of LED lighting systems for general lighting, and

Injection molded plastic, die cast, forging, sheet metal design, manufacturing methods and processes.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future company sponsorship needs.
Salary: $130,437 - $202,200
