Sr Mechanical EngineerThe Sr Mechanical Engineer develops, leads and supports all engineering efforts across the Profile Products business and is responsible for the implementation of new capital deployment, reliability engineering and capital improvements to existing assets. A strong background in Mechanical Engineering as well as a well-rounded background is needed to balance the mechanical, electrical, controls and process components of this role.Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead/support design and implementation of major capital projects in Profile Products across the Plant Engineering team.Work with Profile and Contractor resources to effectively meet capital project requirements with primary focus on safety, quality, and capacity reliability. A project focus on meeting timeline and budget commitments is required.Review, analyze, and improve existing operations and maintenance processes to improve capital reliability and lifespan, while decreasing downtime, maintenance, and parts replacement costs, through the development of capital projects.Support the NPD process for manufacturing and supply chain commitments.Research, evaluate, and propose capital improvements, modifications and upgrades, and replacements where appropriate.Evaluate and procure new and used equipment and systems upgrades as necessary, sourcing outside vendors as necessary.Lead development of new process equipment design, working with third party suppliers, to achieve business growth objectives.Drive business results, manufacturing improvements, throughput increase, scrap reduction, overall COGS reduction, and enhanced safety.Responsible for evaluating and recommending new technologies to support new and existing product lines.All other duties assigned.Job RequirementsBS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar, OR equivalent combination work experience including machinery development, procurement, production process engineering, and/or project engineering.Essential QualificationsExperience in electro-mechanical process engineeringExperience working with particulate wood or similar wood-based production (MDF, HDF, Particle Board, Mulch, etc) preferredExperience with capital equipment optimization and implementationExperience sourcing and specifying automation and sensing technologiesExperience analyzing and diagnosing machine failures.Experience scoping, developing, and leading large capital projects across a multi-year horizon.Working knowledge of industry standards for machinery design for safety and guardingAnalytical, with attention to detail and accuracyProblem solving, system and methods improvement skillsHands-on mechanical 3D CAD (Inventor or SolidWorks) software experienceMS Office suite and ERP/MRP softwareExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise reports that are understandable by the target audienceAbility to prioritize tasks and escalate them when appropriateAbility to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environmentTime management skillsLanguage SkillsAbility to read, write, and speak EnglishPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.Required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or crawl.Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.May require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.The individual possesses fine hand manipulation (keyboarding) skills.Work EnvironmentThis position works in a manufacturing setting.Must be able to adapt to the noise level of a manufacturing setting, which is usually moderate to heavy.This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, printer/scanner, and filing cabinets.The temperature will vary from hot to cold, depending on the weather.
