A Senior Power Generation Mechanical Engineer is required to support mechanical engineering design, project management, outage planning, reliability improvements and equipment failure resolution across power generation facilities throughout Florida.

This role suits a senior mechanical engineer with strong power generation experience across natural gas-fired generation, turbines, auxiliary equipment, plant maintenance, outage support and engineering project delivery. The position combines technical design, field investigation, root cause analysis, procurement scope development and hands‑on support for plant reliability and efficiency projects.

The Senior Power Generation Mechanical Engineer / Senior Mechanical Engineer / Power Generation Engineer.

Role

  • Lead and support mechanical engineering projects across power generation facilities, both remotely and onsite.
  • Manage outage, reliability, efficiency improvement and equipment upgrade projects from scope through delivery.
  • Model, design and engineer solutions involving mechanical, thermodynamic, fluid, piping and structural engineering.
  • Carry out field investigations, diagnostic work and root cause analysis on generating units and auxiliary equipment.
  • Develop project scopes, technical specifications and procurement documentation for maintenance, repair and upgrade work.
  • Work with plant management, operations and maintenance teams to plan modifications to existing plant systems and equipment.
  • Monitor project progress, budget, scope and schedule, addressing variances where needed.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors and equipment manufacturers to support safe and timely return‑to‑service activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 10+ years of experience in the power generation industry.
  • Strong experience with power plant, heavy industrial maintenance or operations environments.
  • Knowledge of natural gas‑fired electric power generation facilities and turbomachinery.
  • Experience with steam generation, gas turbines, steam turbines and auxiliary systems.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar
  • Experience with analysis tools such as FEA or CFD.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, stress analysis, root cause analysis and management of change processes.
  • Ability to travel to plant sites throughout Florida as required.
  • Experience:
  • Florida Professional Engineer license.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems, advanced project tracking software and outage planning.
  • Experience supporting NERC compliance-driven projects.
