HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Michigan-based Power Generation team. This role supports power and energy projects primarily within the utility, IPP, industrial, institutional, and municipal sectors.
Responsibilities
- Lead the project mechanical team, coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
- Monitor and communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects at both technical and contractual levels.
- Develop construction drawings, bid specifications, pipe stress analyses, mechanical equipment sizing calculations, technical memos, bid evaluations, code reviews, feasibility studies, reports, and cost estimates.
- Plan, schedule, and lead design projects for industrial- and utility-scale power generation systems and equipment.
- Support projects across simple cycle, combined cycle, distributed generation, RICE, CHP, and renewable technologies.
- Travel for site surveys, technical conferences, client meetings, and construction monitoring—typically less than 10% of time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in power markets.
- Professional Engineering license recognized in the location of the position.
- Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit, etc.).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
