Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (MEP)The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. In this role, you'll be a key contributor in designing and delivering mechanical systems for a diverse range of projects, providing the technical expertise and leadership needed to bring ideas from concept to completion.

If you enjoy collaborating with talented professionals, tackling interesting engineering challenges, and making an impact both on projects and within your team, you'll fit right in at MSG.Key ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical design for facility and water/wastewater pump station projects, including process piping, HVAC, and equipment layoutsDevelop detailed mechanical design packages, including plans, sections, details, P&IDs, and specificationsPerform pump and pipe flow calculations, system curve analyses, and equipment sizing for various process applicationsDesign and specify heat trace systems, insulation, and freeze-protection components for facility and outdoor installationsEvaluate and select mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, and mechanical supportsParticipate in design reviews and quality checks to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirementsProvide technical leadership by planning and delegating project work, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting their professional growth and developmentSkills, Knowledge and ExpertiseBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline7–12+ years of mechanical design experience in facilities, water/wastewater, pump stations, or industrial process environmentsProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferredStrong knowledge of process piping, pump systems, flow calculations, and mechanical system designProficiency in 3D modeling and mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar)Experience designing heat trace systems and freeze-protection componentsUnderstanding of relevant codes and standards (ASME, NFPA, IPC, AWWA, etc.)Ability to lead design tasks, coordinate across disciplines, and deliver high-quality construction documentsStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to guide junior staff and engage effectively with stakeholdersBenefits401(k) w/ company matchHealth insurance w/ HSA option, Vision, Dental, LifeFlexible schedulePaid time offReferral programTuition reimbursementCatalytic Coaching - Employees draft a development plan aimed at improving contributions in their current job and increasing the potential for other opportunities.
