And if it can be measured, it can also be realized.The Senior Design Mechanical Engineer is a key contributor responsible for design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packaging for FARO's metrology products.This position is considered a hybrid position out of our Exton, PA office.How you will make a difference @ FARO:Key individual contributor in the mechanical design of new metrology instrument products.Design critical mechanical components for metrology instrumentsDevelop and coordinate with vendors to provide finished work that meets requirementsPerform hands-on assembly, testing and troubleshootingAnalyze designs using FEA for bending, stress, vibration, and thermal effects.Determine root cause and corrective action of system failuresDevelop assembly, calibration and compensation techniquesPerform dynamic system analysisServe as a mentor to other mechanical engineers and designers in areas of expertiseOther mechanical design and analysis responsibilities may be added in the future as business conditions evolve.This position requires:A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial EngineeringA minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical/industrial engineering experienceTechnical Skills:Mechanical design using Solidworks or similar CAD packageSurface modeling using Solidworks or similar CAD packageDesign of injection molded partsIndustrial design and evaluation of products for improved product user interaction (UI/UX)Drawing generation in accordance with ASME Y14.5M Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Design of machined, sheet metal and cast partsSystem error budgets and tolerance stack upsFinite element analysis (FEA) using Solidworks Simulation or ANSYS10 years of relevant mechanical/industrial engineering experience and/or a Master's degree in Mechanical/Industrial EngineeringPrecision machine design and evaluation for metrology, machine tool or similar applicationsKinematic component designBearing and spindle designDesign and analysis of thermal management for electromechanical systemsWhat FARO can offer you:A competitive paid time off bank and paid holidaysMedical, dental, life and AD&D insurance plansPre-tax flex spending accounts for medical and dependent care401K with employer matchTuition reimbursement and training opportunitiesWellness fairsFrequent lunch and learns to help educate employees about issues affecting their livesOther employee eventsInclusiveAt FARO, we are committed to encouraging different perspectives and ideas that foster innovation.
