AIRSYS is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team. This hands-on technical role will lead assembly-line design, tooling and fixture development, equipment commissioning, new product introduction, and shop-floor digitization.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will own the equipment lifecycle - from developing technical specifications and managing equipment vendors through installation, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and production launch. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working directly on the manufacturing floor and leading projects that improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.
What You'll Do
- Develop User Requirement Specifications, functional specifications, and RFQs for automated, semi-automated, and manual manufacturing equipment
- Manage equipment suppliers through design reviews, fabrication, Factory Acceptance Testing, installation, Site Acceptance Testing, and commissioning
- Design custom assembly jigs, fixtures, ergonomic workstations, tooling, and go/no-go gauges using AutoCAD and 3D CAD
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and apply Design for Assembly principles
- Develop and optimize production-cell layouts, line balancing, material flow, and ergonomic workstations
- Apply Lean manufacturing, 5S, and ergonomic safety standards to reduce waste, improve takt time, and minimize operator fatigue
- Partner with IT and Automation teams to integrate Manufacturing Execution Systems across production lines
- Configure electronic work instructions, operational routings, part traceability, and real-time manufacturing metrics
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D, 5-Why, CAPA, PFMEA, control plans, and SPC
- Serve as the Manufacturing and Operations liaison for new product introductions, from initial production seeding through full-scale production
- Lead capital-equipment and special projects supporting operational requirements
What We're Looking For
- At least five years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience
- Experience with equipment specification, production support, tooling design, industrial automation, NPI, and management of change
- Proficiency with AutoCAD for two-dimensional layouts and a three-dimensional CAD platform such as SolidWorks or Creo
- Demonstrated experience designing manufacturing jigs, fixtures, and tooling
- Experience writing equipment specifications, managing machine vendors, and executing FAT/SAT protocols
- Strong background in line balancing, ergonomic workstation design, 5S, and material-flow optimization
- Direct experience working with an MES platform, such as SAP MES, Camstar, or Plex
- Knowledge of PFMEA, 8D, CAPA, SPC, Cp/Cpk analysis, and formal quality-management systems
- Strong project leadership, communication, and cross-functional problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with PLC/SCADA architecture, automated assembly cells, or robotics integration
- Experience managing complex equipment modifications through formal Management of Change processes
- Experience working within ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949 quality systems
This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position in an office and manufacturing plant environment. Occasional travel and participation in evening or weekend activities may be required.
