We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to drive process development and continuous improvement for complex electronic assemblies. This role will focus on optimizing SMT and PCBA manufacturing processes, supporting production equipment, and partnering with engineering teams to improve product quality, manufacturability, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing processes, work instructions, assembly documentation, tooling, fixtures, and production routings to support efficient, repeatable manufacturing.
  • Create and maintain detailed assembly documentation using CAD and manufacturing software to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Review engineering documentation including mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, PCB layouts, Gerber files, CAD models, and bills of materials while identifying opportunities for design and documentation improvements.
  • Program, validate, and optimize SMT equipment, including pick-and-place programs, reflow oven profiles, and PCB panelization for new product introductions and production updates.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain SMT, reflow, and PCBA manufacturing equipment, coordinating with equipment vendors when necessary to maximize uptime.
  • Lead root cause investigations for manufacturing defects, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, throughput, and cost reduction.
  • Partner with Design Engineering to provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) recommendations that improve production efficiency and product reliability.
  • Support manufacturing layout, workflow optimization, capacity planning, and lean manufacturing initiatives to improve overall operational performance.
  • Collaborate across engineering, quality, production, and supply chain teams to successfully launch new products and improve existing manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting electronic or electromechanical products.
  • Strong expertise in PCBA manufacturing, SMT assembly, RF products, and electronic assembly processes, including soldering and sweat-down techniques.
  • Experience developing manufacturing documentation, production processes, and assembly tooling.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and manufacturing systems such as MES and ERP platforms.
  • Hands-on experience programming and supporting SMT production equipment is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with CNC machining or mechanical design is a plus.
  • Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments such as aerospace, defense, military, or cleanroom production is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Costpoint, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple engineering and manufacturing disciplines.
