Senior Manufacturing Engineer

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for determining root cause and solutions to various technical manufacturing process issues. Key responsibilities include research, development, and implementation of alternate processes, parts, tooling, equipment, or systems. Along with recommending changes to current processes within operations to reduce costs and waste.

• Designs, develops, tests, sources, and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
• Manages the implementation of new equipment or technology, ensures its satisfactory operation, and instructs others to use the new equipment properly.
• Evaluates and provides solutions to manufacturing product and process issues.
• Manages the successful transition of new products into the production arena. Supports prototyping activities of new product development.

Productivity / Job Knowledge

• Stays informed on both existing and new sheet metal processing methods, new manufacturing technology and equipment, and investigates potential applications. Recommends incorporation of new technology for company applications where feasible and practical.
• Prepares and maintains detailed CAD layouts of buildings and equipment.
• Evaluates parts for manufacturing applications based on variables such as cost, efficiency and practicality. Evaluates drawings, routings, specs and other documents.
• Communicates with other departments to develop production and design standards.
• Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, and assembly methods.
• Performs product/process analysis including observation, measurements, data collection and data interpretation for cost reduction, quality improvement, efficiency, and safety improvement. Recommends methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, facilities, and utilities.
