Senior Manager, Software Engineering

About the Role

This role leads a team of engineers building tooling for Enterprise-facing applications within the Design domain, developing 2D and 3D focused tools for virtual product creation and visualisation as well as supporting the related workflows. It combines people management with responsibility for the technical output of the team. The role involves close communication with stakeholders, business participants and cross-functional partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and inspire a team of engineers, managing both the people and the technical output of the team.
• Manage direct reports.
• Participate in Agile software development.
• Ensure best engineering practices are followed.
• Communicate with stakeholders and business participants.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in a people management, supervision or team leadership role.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field; any suitable combination of education, experience and training will be accepted.
• 7+ years' experience in technology and software engineering roles.
• 7+ years' experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• Extensive expertise in computer graphics or visual mediums.
• Experience with 3D tools (Adobe Substance 3D, Blender, Unreal, Unity), visualisation, game development, or expertise in visual content hosting, distribution and viewing (images, video).
• Experience developing tools for artists or creators.
• Experience working in cross-functional domains.
• Experience driving process improvement within the Agile development framework.
• Experience with CI/CD software deployment process.
• Experience leading teams in a highly matrixed environment.
• Background in software engineering with experience in the delivery of visual output, whether in games, film, simulation or equivalent.
• Must excel in team-oriented roles that rely on the ability to collaborate with others.
