Senior Manager, Software Engineer (Full Stack, People Leader) – New York, NY
Senior Manager, Software Engineer (Full Stack, People Leader) at Capital One. This role leads a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions, driving transformation and empowering customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems to create solutions meeting regulatory needs for the company
- Mentor engineering team members, stay current with tech trends, participate in internal and external technology communities, and, from time to time, code or evaluate code
- Collaborate with digital product managers and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive engaging experiences for millions of users
- Utilize programming languages and technologies such as JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, Go; Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases; containerization with Docker and Kubernetes; and a variety of AWS tools and services
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (internship experience does not apply)
- At least 1 year of cloud computing experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
- At least 4 years of people management experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, Python
- 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
- 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
- 3+ years of large data processing (Databricks, Snowflake, AWS Glue/EMR)
- 2+ years leveraging AI for development
- 4+ years leading cloud engineering, DevOps, operational, or SRE functions

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries are for candidates hired to work in these locations and refer to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours worked.
McLean, VA: $225,400 - $257,200 for Sr. Mgr, Software Engineering
New York, NY: $245,900 - $280,600 for Sr. Mgr, Software Engineering
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range for that location, and the actual salary offered will be reflected in the offer letter.
This role is eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives may be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
