This is a traditional, hands-on legal secretary role for someone who takes ownership of calendaring, deadlines, and law and motion work and thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment. This position supports a tight-knit team of experienced attorneys handling complex general liability, public entity, and insurance defense matters from inception through trial.What You Will DoOwn calendaring and statutory deadline management across a large, active caseloadPrepare and file pleadings, discovery, and motions in California state courtsAssist with law and motion work including motions to compel and summary judgment filingsPrepare tables of contents and authoritiesCoordinate depositions, experts, hearings, and trial logisticsManage filings, service, and court communicationsInterface professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court clerksSupport trial, mediation, and arbitration preparationWhat We Are Looking For5+ years of California insurance defense litigation experiencePrior experience as a litigation legal secretary in a law firm environmentStrong knowledge of California Code of Civil Procedure and litigation deadlinesProven experience owning calendaring and docket managementLaw and motion experience is requiredHigh-volume desk experience preferredProficiency with ProLaw or comparable case management systemsStrong Microsoft Word, Adobe, and document formatting skillsExcellent grammar, spelling, and attention to detailReliable, organized, and comfortable working with multiple attorneysWork EnvironmentHybrid schedule after onboardingCollaborative, experienced litigation teamStrong internal support and trainingProfessional environment where competence and reliability are valued and rewardedCompensation and BenefitsBase salary up to $100,000 depending on experiencePerformance-based annual bonusNon-exempt hourly position with overtime eligibilityMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k)Disability insuranceThis role is ideal for a career litigation legal secretary who wants stability, responsibility, and meaningful involvement in sophisticated defense litigation.
