Onsite Contract Arbitration

A rapidly growing national insurance brokerage is seeking an experienced attorney to join its in-house legal team in a high-impact litigation leadership role. This position will serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on complex employment-related disputes, competitive hiring matters, contract enforcement issues, and broader business litigation strategies.

The successful candidate will bring extensive courtroom experience and a strong background handling restrictive covenant disputes, including matters involving employee mobility, protection of confidential information, solicitation restrictions, and related business tort claims. Beyond litigation management, this attorney will act as a trusted business partner, helping evaluate risk, guide strategic hiring decisions, and develop proactive dispute prevention initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct all phases of complex litigation matters, from early case assessment and strategy development through trial, settlement, arbitration, or final resolution.
  • Represent the organization in court proceedings, evidentiary hearings, motion practice, injunction matters, mediations, and other dispute forums.
  • Advise internal stakeholders regarding employee transition risks, competitive recruiting activities, and contractual obligations involving former or prospective personnel.
  • Evaluate legal exposure associated with business decisions and provide practical, risk-based recommendations that support organizational growth objectives.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate settlement agreements, demand letters, litigation-related contracts, and other dispute resolution documentation.
  • Oversee external counsel, manage case budgets, monitor performance, and ensure alignment with legal and business priorities.
  • Develop and implement litigation management processes, document preservation practices, and e-discovery procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Partner with leadership teams across departments to identify emerging legal risks and create preventative strategies designed to reduce future disputes.
  • Lead alternative dispute resolution efforts, including mediation and arbitration proceedings.
  • Prepare executive-level briefings regarding significant disputes, trends, regulatory developments, and potential legal exposure.
  • Track developments in employment law, restrictive covenant enforcement, and litigation trends that could impact business operations.

Ideal Background

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership of the California state bar.
  • Approximately 8+ years of litigation experience, with substantial exposure to restrictive covenant, trade secrets, unfair competition, employment, or commercial litigation matters.
  • Strong courtroom advocacy skills, including experience handling hearings, judicial proceedings, and trial preparation.
  • Demonstrated success managing outside counsel and driving favorable litigation outcomes.
  • Experience balancing legal risk with practical business considerations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple high-priority matters while collaborating effectively with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Reputation for sound judgment, professionalism, integrity, and strategic thinking
