Senior Legal counsel – US and Canada

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal Affairs team, supporting our US & Canada Market Company activities and units, including in relation to commercial practices, innovation, sustainability and IPR. You will also be part of the US & Canada Market Leadership Team.
The Tetra Pak Legal Affairs unit contributes to a profitable and sustainable business by anticipating and resolving legal issues, protecting innovation and our brands, and promoting good governance. It is headed by the Tetra Pak Group Executive Vice President and General Counsel, who leads a global team of more than 90 world-class lawyers, patent and trademark attorneys, corporate governance and risk management, and export control professionals.
This position is based in Denton, Texas . You will report to the Vice President Legal Affairs Markets Americas. Some domestic and international travel may be required but is very limited.
Tetra Pak is not considering applications (internal or external) that require international relocation to the US.
What You Will Do
- Draft, negotiate and provide legal advice with respect to engineering, construction and manufacturing agreements, product supply agreements, procurement agreements, marketing agreements, equipment lease and sale agreements and other commercial agreements
- Identify and analyze legal issues and risks, present clear recommendations for both advancement of projects and compliance with Tetra Pak policies and procedures, and assure legal compliance across the full spectrum of legal issues facing the company
- Manage litigation matters, including management of outside counsel for adherence to scope and budget
- Participate in ideation and implementation of innovative projects, providing issue-spotting and advice on potential legal concerns
- Support labor and employment related activities, including support for two unionized manufacturing facilities
- Act as the corporate secretary for the US Tetra Pak entities, manage necessary actions and prepare related documents for discussion with Boards of Directors
We believe you have
- Ten or more years of relevant legal experience, preferably gained in relation to the manufacturing or construction sector
- Legal experience in a corporate environment, Food and Beverage or in the Consumer-Packaged Goods industry is a plus)
- Juris Doctorate Degree or L.L.M from an accredited U.S. law school is required
- License to practice law and admission to (and current good standing with) the bar of at least one state is required, and ability to gain entrance to the bar of Texas within 1 year is strongly preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Commercial litigation experience is preferred
- Antitrust and bankruptcy knowledge is a plus
