Position Overview
Equagen is seeking a Senior P&C Engineer to support our Substation Protection & Control Engineering and Manufacturing teams. This position may be filled with a Lead P&C Engineer depending on the applicant’s qualification.
This position will be the lead responsible for the protection & control design, testing and commissioning protection and control panels for greenfield and brownfield substation projects ranging from 5 kV to 500 kV voltage levels. The successful candidate should be able to formulate one-line diagrams based on project scope, develop AC and DC schematic diagrams, design and check wiring and interconnection diagrams, and perform protection & control-relevant calculations. Familiarity with developing relay settings and RTU configuration is desired.

Job Responsibilities
- Detailed design of Substation and/or Protection & Control projects.
- Preparation, development, and modification of one- and three-line diagrams, protective relaying & control schematic/elementary drawings, AC & DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel front views, equipment layout/sections, cable & conduit schedules, and bills of material according to applicable client procedures.
- Apply engineering application software to complete engineering tasks such as determining equipment ratings, sizing equipment per project requirements, CT burden calculations, AC station service load calculations, DC battery sizing calculations, and voltage drop calculations.
- Prepare equipment specifications for procurement.
- Perform quality assurance reviews of substation project documentation and manufacturing procedures.
- Execute supervision tasks such as panel manufacturing, FAT and SAT; IFAT – integrated factory acceptance test; protection and control device configuration and test; commissioning of CTs and VTs; protection test routines; and SAT for control & protection.
- Be accountable, professional, and willing to exceed customer expectations.
- Communicate effectively.
- Schedule delivery on time and within project budget.
- Provide guidance and mentoring where needed.
- Coordinate project activities with customer representatives and other stakeholders; work during normal operating hours to complete work within deadlines, and work overtime and weekends as required.
- Be available to travel to sites mainly within the U.S. to perform supervision and training; able to travel up to 25% of the time.
Qualifications
- A Licensed Professional Engineer is required.
- Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
- At least seven years of experience performing substation protection & control design and engineering for high‑voltage substations in the U.S.
- Knowledge of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English.
