Senior Language ProgrammerEpic Games is seeking an experienced Senior Language Programmer to join our Verse team, which owns the toolchain (compiler, VM, and runtime) that powers game development in Unreal Engine and UEFN. You'll work on the systems every UE and UEFN developer relies on to build and ship games with Verse.What You'll Do:Extend, evolve, and maintain the Verse compiler toolchain and VM, implementing new language features and integrating with Unreal Engine's content, build, and cooking pipelinesOptimize performance, memory usage, and iteration times across the Verse toolchain and UE/Verse boundaryWork closely with language consumers to ensure an exceptional user experienceEstablish test workflows to validate improvements and prevent regressionsDesign and maintain the scripting interface to Unreal Engine, working in close collaboration with the Verse Language team and the broader UE engineering organizationWhat We're Looking For:Expert knowledge of C++17 or laterExperience in language compiler and toolchain development, including compiler internals and VM designExperience developing and optimizing large codebases, making tradeoffs between usability, performance, and powerStrong ability to reason about large, interconnected systemsSolid grounding in software engineering principles, including API designStrong communication and collaboration skills across engineering teamsAbility to work autonomously and deliver practical solutionsThis role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA, NYC, & WA).Pay Transparency Information:The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below.
