The Role
The Landscape Design/Sales professional sells high-end residential landscape design-build projects, with a geographic focus on Arlington, Northwest DC, Montgomery County, and Great Falls. Working directly with homeowners, you will understand their vision, lifestyle, priorities, and investment goals; develop creative design solutions; establish project scope and budgets; and confidently guide clients through the design and decision-making process. Once a project moves into construction, you remain actively involved maintaining the client relationship and helping ensure the original vision is carried through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Client Consultation: Meet with prospective and existing clients to understand their goals, lifestyle, aesthetic preferences, priorities, and budget.
Relationship Ownership: Build strong client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor throughout the life of each project.
Design Solutions: Create high-end residential landscape designs, including gardens, pools, terraces, outdoor living spaces, structures, water features, and planting environments.
Scope & Investment: Develop project scope, budgets, estimates, and proposals that align design vision, constructability, and client expectations.
Guided Decisions: Present design concepts, project scope, and investment clearly and confidently, guiding clients from initial concept through project approval.
End-to-End Projects: Take ownership of projects from initial consultation through design, estimating, construction, and completion.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with project management, production, and field teams to ensure design intent and client expectations are maintained throughout construction.
Growth Contribution: Identify opportunities to enhance project scope and develop new project opportunities through exceptional design and client service.
Ideal Candidate Profile
5+ years of experience in high-end residential landscape design, landscape architecture, design-build, or a related field.
Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
Strong understanding of residential landscape design, construction methods, materials, and project costs.
Experience developing project estimates, budgets, and proposals.
Proven ability to build relationships with discerning residential clients and guide them from initial consultation through project approval.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to discuss design vision, project scope, budget, and investment.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple client relationships and projects from design through construction and completion.
Collaborative approach, working effectively with project managers, craftsmen, field teams, and other design professionals.
