As a prominent member of the team, you will also play a key role in mentoring and fostering the professional development of emerging talent within the Wilmington office.If you enjoy the challenge of contributing to several long-term projects while also achieving the satisfaction of seeing short-term projects through to completion, this role is for you!Join our team, and your career will be amplified by a culture of empathy, innovation, and life balance, recognized by employees as the top firm to work for in 2026 by Zweig Group!What You'll Do:Assist Civil Group Leader with Design and Project ManagementManage various land development projects spanning commercial, industrial, institutional, mixed-use, residential, etc.Oversee a team of staff engineers and CAD DesignersPerform technical planning and design work associated with land or site developmentDesign and oversee site planning, grading, entrance plan design, stormwater management design, erosion & sediment control design, landscape planning, and assessmentsPrepare records and construction plans for agency/municipal reviewCompletion of various land development and environmental permitting applicationsAttend meetings with municipal officials, engineers, developers, and contractorsCandidate should be a critical thinker, be willing to learn through trial and error, be self-motivated, and be willing to put the full effort into the task at handMentor and develop junior staffDevelop new clients and build on and maintain relationships with existing clientsWhat You Bring:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited institution10 or more years of experience in land development (preferably in Delaware or Maryland)Minimum of 3 years of experience managing projectsP.E. or R.L.A required (Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and/or New Jersey preferred)Demonstrated ability & experience to lead a team of engineers and designersAutoCAD proficient, Civil 3D a plusFamiliarity with HydroCAD or other stormwater modeling softwareFamiliarity with ArcGIS software is a plusSalary Range:The compensation range starts at $125,000 and is based on the position, experience, and licensure.Benefits:Flexible Work EnvironmentPaid Parental LeaveMedicalDentalVisionLife and AD&D InsuranceShort-Term and Long-Term Disability401(k) with Company MatchPaid Time Off + HolidaysVerdantas strives to develop new ways to increase diversity awareness within our organization.
