A law firm seeks a Senior Labor and Employment Attorney with a portable book of business to join their team in Sarasota, Florida. The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of experience in private practice, focusing on employer-side labor and employment law, and will be located along Florida's Gulf Coast corridor.
Duties
- Counsel employers on complex workplace issues, risk management, and compliance.
- Conduct and oversee workplace investigations involving discrimination and other concerns.
- Advise on Employment Practices Liability Insurance matters and defense coordination.
- Represent clients in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies.
- Provide guidance on hiring, discipline, wage compliance, and employee relations.
- Draft and review employment agreements, handbooks, and workplace procedures.
- Deliver management training and compliance reviews to reduce litigation exposure.
- Advise on immigration‑related employment compliance and workforce mobility.
- Coordinate ERISA‑related considerations with specialized benefits counsel.
- Develop client relationships and contribute to practice growth.
- Mentor junior attorneys and professional staff.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA‑accredited law school.
- Member of The Florida Bar in good standing.
- Florida Bar Board Certification in Labor and Employment Law preferred.
- 10‑15 years of employer‑side labor and employment experience in a law firm.
- Experience advising on complex workplace matters and representing employers in litigation.
- Experience with federal and state employment laws and administrative proceedings.
- Familiarity with employee benefits, ERISA, and immigration‑related employment matters preferred.
- Portable book of business and business development capability required.
