Senior International Trade Compliance SpecialistWe are seeking a full-time Senior International Trade Compliance Specialist at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the Garmin importing, exporting and supply chain security activities ensuring full compliance with governmental laws and regulations which includes Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms (ITAR), U.
S. Treasury Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC), and Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT). This also includes the import and export of products, services, transfer of technical data, and all other import and export licensing and compliance matters.Essential FunctionsLead the development and implementation of policies and procedures compliant with import, export and supply chain securityDrive process improvements supporting ITC activitiesDevelop and prepare detailed project plans from concept to completion and effectively communicate progress to managementLead projects on regulatory compliance, system enhancements and suggest potential solutionsLead teams on planning and executing projects with little to no direction from managementDrive regular and periodic compliance reviews and assessments (internal & external) of corporate import, export and supply chain security activitiesLead ITC initiatives globallyDrive the design of tools and performance reports to provide awareness and measure and the ensure the effectiveness of import, export controls and supply chain security complianceProvide oversight on the global DPL screening and tier 2 and 3 denied party list resolutionsProvide oversight on the import and export classifications, ensuring complianceRepresent the ITC department in cross functional initiativesLead, organize, and carry out process improvement initiatives / projectsLead and organize the ITC team's day to day activityMentor and train associatesAttend seminars, meetings and read journals and other industry publication to maintain knowledge of specialized information and identify any regulation or industry changes affecting the company's businessBasic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, Supply Chain, or Engineering AND a minimum of 8 years of experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceDemonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and basic knowledge of AccessProven track record in project management with a demonstrated ability to develop, plan, document, and independently drive complex projects to successful conclusionsDemonstrated leadership and team building skillsDemonstrated effective and strong verbal and written communication skillsMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with othersMust demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to work across functional and organizational linesMust possess the ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlinesMust be highly motivated, detail-oriented and possess the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervisionDemonstrated ability to work on exceedingly complex problems and provides solutionsDesired QualificationsMaster's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering or a related fieldJuris Doctorate (JD)U.S.
