Onsite Full Time General

Senior Infrastructure Software EngineerApple's Infrastructure Platform team sits at the center of one of the most ambitious infrastructure transformations in the industry. We operate at a scale few engineers ever encounter: over 1 million hosts, 50 datacenters, across 5 continents, serving 2.2 billion users worldwide — and we're rebuilding how all of it works. We're not maintaining the status quo. We're changing it. AI is actively reshaping how we design, operate, and evolve our infrastructure, and we're looking for engineers who want to be at the front of that shift — not watching it happen from the sidelines.

Our team builds and owns the critical platform layer that powers iCloud and Apple's backend services at hyperscale: structured and unstructured storage, caching, queuing, search, and more. These systems store exabytes of data and underpin some of Apple's most visible products and features. The platform supports services built on open-source foundations — Kubernetes, Cassandra, Kafka, Redis, Zookeeper — alongside internally developed technologies built specifically for Apple's scale and requirements. What we're building here forms Apple's long-term infrastructure moat — proprietary technologies designed to lead the company in efficiency, safety, security, and the speed at which we can deliver change. This is foundational work with a decades-long horizon.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, an engineering-related field, or equivalent related experience.5+ years experience as a backend internet services software developer.Deep understanding of multi-threading concepts and design of highly concurrent applications.Understanding of distributed system concepts including: the CAP Theorem, micro-services, and the Twelve Factor App.Knowledge of SDLC, including continuous integration, testing methodologies, TDD and agile development methodologies.Fluency in one or more high-level programming languages like Golang (preferred), Java, Python, Ruby or equivalent.Understanding of base internet infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, LDAP, server virtualization, server monitoringPreferred QualificationsExperience with large scale server provisioning and maintenance (OpenStack Ironic, Metal3, MAAS, xCat, Netbox, Tinkerbell)Experience with development within Kubernetes ecosystem, including operator framework, controllers and CRDsExperience with UI frameworks such as React, Angular or JQueryExposure to hardware bootstrap and associated security (PXE, BIOS, TPM, secure boot, trusted computing)Exposure to structured or unstructured storage and caching.Exposure to automating operations processes via services and tools.Exposure to configuration management and fleet orchestration via Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or others.Exposure to cloud services (AWS S3/EC2/CloudFront/Steps...
