Senior Infrastructure Engineer

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is the technical lead and subject-matter expert for the organization's infrastructure. You will design and deliver complex solutions across cloud, data center, network and storage, set engineering standards, and serve as the top escalation point for critical incidents. You will mentor a team of Infrastructure Support.

Because the organization builds medical devices and handles electronic protected health information (ePHI), you will design infrastructure that is secure, compliant and audit-ready from the start. You will partner closely with IT Security as the infrastructure owner of security controls, and mentor mid-level and junior engineers.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8 years of hands-on infrastructure experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or lead engineering role.
• Expert-level administration of Windows Server and Linux in enterprise environments.
• Deep experience with VMware or Hyper-V, enterprise storage (SAN/NAS) and backup platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and running production workloads in AWS and/or Azure.
• Advanced networking knowledge: routing, switching, firewalls, VPN, load balancing, SD-WAN and network segmentation.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent) and scripting in PowerShell, Python or Bash.
• Proven experience implementing security controls in close partnership with an IT Security team.
• 3+ years supporting systems that handle ePHI or similar regulated data, with working knowledge of HIPAA and HITECH.
• Track record of leading complex projects and acting as escalation point for major incidents.
• Strong documentation, communication and mentoring skills.
• 5+ years of deep, hands-on experience with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) in a hybrid environment, including Entra Connect, Group Policy, Conditional Access and PIM.
• Minimum 3 years experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) related infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in a medical device, diagnostics, digital health or other FDA-regulated organization.
• Hands-on experience with FDA 21 CFR Part 11, QMSR / ISO 13485 and computer system validation (CSV/CSA).
• Experience supporting cloud platforms for connected devices or SaMD, including familiarity with FDA premarket cybersecurity expectations and SBOMs.
• Kubernetes and container platform experience in production.
• Experience with SIEM, EDR, privileged access management and vulnerability management tools.
• Multi-cloud or large-scale cloud migration experience.
• Artificial Intelligence (AI) related infrastructure.
• Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300), CCNP, RHCE, VMware VCP, CISSP or HCISPP.
