Senior Highway Project ManagerVHB's Wethersfield, CT office is seeking a Senior Highway Project Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and growing Transportation Team, and to be a part of delivering CT's roadway and safety projects. This position provides an opportunity to lead complex transportation projects while playing an important role in expanding and shaping the group. We are looking for someone with a blend of project management skills, technical expertise, and innovative thinking.
Experience working with CTDOT is required and experience with local agencies is a plus.ResponsibilitiesServe as Senior Project Manager for CTDOT and Municipal clientsDevelop and manage client relationshipsManage staff, and provide technical and professional development of staffAssist with strategy for expansion of transportation services throughout CTMonitor project financial performanceAttend and lead meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss/navigate transportation design/permitting challengesDevelop and execute scope associated with transportation design projectsParticipate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partnersDevelop new project opportunities, and prepare and manage proposal submissionsManaging large multi-disciplinary highway reconstruction projects, both traditional bid-build and alternate delivery (Design-Build, PPP, etc.)Assist with the production and delivering transportation projects through the construction administration phasePre-design project planning and financial managementDesign of highways and roads including the development of geometric layout, grading, and drainage, working with utilities, and environmental permittingDevelopment of technical design and specification documentsSkills and AttributesSelf-motivated, attention to detail, ability to multitask, ability to think criticallyExhibits strong leadership skillsStrong and collaborative work ethicExcels working in a team environmentSubstantial client management, technical and project management experienceAbility to manage a multidisciplinary team of professionalsExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsAdvanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in highway engineeringAdvanced knowledge of state regulations governing transportation designSoftware: MicroStation Open Roads Designer, Civil3D a plusQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study requiredMaster's degree a plus and may substitute for 1 year of experience11-15 years of professional transportation engineering experience, with at least 5 years of experience working with CTDOT requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) license required; CT PE preferredSubstantial professional expertise with progressive highway design projects requiredBuilding what's next, together.
