Senior Hardware EngineerThe Senior Hardware Engineer will be a member of a team responsible for designing Coherent Pluggable Optical Transceiver modules for metro, core and data center applications. The advanced Engineer will have a proven competency in the areas of electronic design, signal integrity management utilizing Ansys HFSS.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop block diagrams and schematics from initial concept phaseSpecify, design, test, integrate and release new products to productionCreate Hardware Unit Design specification and test plansWork cross functionally within all R&D disciplines in order to meet design objectivesProvide engineering support for designs in production and transfer of products to contract manufacturersProvide guidance to CAD designers during PCB designWork closely with layout engineersWork closely with the FPGA/FW/Test engineering team during integration phase of the productUtilize Ansys HFSS 3D solver for circuit design and high speed simulationsComplete the full product design life cycle on a portion of the system involving multiple componentsWork independently on the assigned design activities with minimal supervisionUnderstand the product architecture, design, processes, tools, etc. required to perform their assigned design activitiesBasic QualificationsBS or MS in Electrical Engineering or PhysicsOperates at the equivalent of an engineer with 5 plus years' relevant experience (high-speed board design)High proficiency using schematic design tools (e.g.
Allegro) and EM simulation tools (HFSS/ADS) is a mustExperience in coherent XCVR design a big plus.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suiteExperience with high-speed RF measurements and characterization equipmentStrong fundamentals in EM and RF such as impedance matching, S-parametersExperience with Spectrum Analyzer, Network Analyzer, Logic, Analyzer, Function Generator, and BER test setsExperience in fiber optics test and measurementsPreferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in Electrical EngineeringMentor Graphics DxDesigner (schematics), Hyperlynx (SI, PI), SW proficiency is a plusExperience with coherent optical systems is a plus.Knowledgeable on optical component reliability and telecom performance standards such as Telcordia, IEC, and ITU is highly desirableProven competency in the areas of signal integrity management utilizing Ansys HFSS is highly desirableWorking experience of optical transceivers is a bonusProgramming skills in LabView, Python, or Matlab for test purposes is a bonusSuccess CriteriaAble to drive design teams, component vendors and manufacturing partnersAble to generate high quality design documents (High level design and Unit Test)Good communication skills, both written and verbalSelf-motivated and able to perform with minimal supervisionHas knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular fieldRelies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
