Senior Hardware Design Engineer – PCB Design

Onsite Full Time Electrical & Energy Engineering

  • Develop electrical designs for next-generation Electronic Control Units (ECUs) supporting Software Defined Vehicle architecture
  • Lead product development and integration activities
  • Utilize engineering tools and processes to develop components and systems for vehicle programs
  • Achieve program milestones through effective program management
  • Coach and lead suppliers to execute program work on time and to a high standard
  • Develop PCB layout designs for existing and new architecture-based ECUs
  • Collaborate with PCBA and ECAD engineers
  • Run simulations and create PCB layouts
  • Participate in design direction meetings and foster collaboration with internal and external team members
  • Create, lead, and verify IC and PCB layout designs, including component and trace placement and routing
  • Conduct design rule checks (DRC) and design for manufacturability (DFM) checks
  • Collaborate with circuit designers, system engineers, and packaging engineers to optimize layouts
  • Select layout technologies and processes based on project requirements
  • Optimize layouts with SI, PI, EMC, thermal, and mechanical subject matter experts
  • Support ECAD librarians and ensure library parts meet PCBA DFM and GM resiliency requirements
  • Collaborate with component engineering, procurement, and supply chain teams on component selection
  • Apply Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
  • Identify process improvement, cost reduction, and quality enhancement opportunities in PCBA manufacturing

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required
  • Professional experience creating digital/analog hardware interfaces, including schematic creation and/or PCB layout, simulation, and supporting documentation
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in PCB layout design
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics schematic and layout tools
  • Preferred: previous industry experience with infotainment, telematics, or connectivity
  • Preferred: 10 years or more of experience in PCB layout design
  • Preferred: knowledge of high-speed communication buses such as Ethernet, PCIe, and SerDes
  • Experience in high-density, high-speed communication and RF layout
  • Ability to support ECAD library part development according to PCBA DFM and GM resiliency requirements
  • Ability to collaborate with component engineering, procurement, and supply chain teams
  • Knowledge of Design for Assembly principles
