Job Details

Purpose Design, develop, and maintain software and systems for the collection, processing, and analysis of satellite navigation signals in the Space and Geophysics Laboratory (SGL).

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop new data processing and analysis software as required using Python, C/C++, or scripting to satisfy project objectives.
  • Perform analysis of observation and navigation data using established software tools, repositories and libraries in accordance with established internal practices.
  • Contribute to analyses and characterizations of GPS/GNSS Identify improvements and new methods for GPS/GNSS data collection and analysis.
  • Evaluate and develop new metrics, algorithms, processing techniques with modernized GPS and GNSS signals.
  • Contribute to testing and routine assessments of GPS and GNSS receiver performance.
  • Guide project reviews and technical interface meetings.
  • Identify future analytical software and hardware resource requirements.
  • Assist with data archive organization and maintenance.
  • Further develop knowledge of GNSS and related domains.
  • Mentor fellow staff and become a subject matter expert.
  • Document progress and completion of work.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Three years of related experience in Python or C/C++.
  • Three years of related data analysis experience.
  • Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, be willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks.
  • The position will require attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills and excellent judgment.
  • Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with all groups of clients.
  • Able to work under pressure and accept supervision.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • US Citizen.
  • Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years of GPS/GNSS coursework or experience.
  • Five or more years of work experience with revision control systems such as Gitlab.
  • Extensive experience and proficiency with Python and C/C++.
  • Professional experience as a software developer.
  • Understanding of data analysis and processing within AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of design and development of digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms and techniques.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 with a GPA of 3.5 in major coursework.

Salary Range

Salary Range $104.000-$174,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications.
