Senior Geotechnical EngineerWSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for our Geotechnical and Tunneling Team!This position can sit out of the following WSP offices:Boston, MANorth Providence, RIGlastonbury, CTWorcester, MAShelton, CTMerrimack, NHOther WSP offices throughout New England can be considered.Job DutiesPerform/coordinate field observation and special inspection of subsurface investigations in soils and rockPerform geotechnical engineering design and analyses for bridges, buildings, tunnels, underground structures, and retaining walls under minimal supervision of senior engineersPrepare/draft geotechnical memoranda, data reports and design reportsPerform/coordinate field observation and special inspection of geotechnical constructionAssist task leaders in preparation of reports and Contract DocumentsCollaborate with other disciplines and project partnersAssist to develop and coordinate geotechnical work in New England and other areasPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.Determine well-defined methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, soil/water/sludge/rock samples, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, hydrologic analysis, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis of rock and soil environmental data, and reporting.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering, or a closely-related field5 to 7 years of relevant experienceExtensive knowledge of geotechnical engineering and working knowledge of related disciplines (Structures, Civil, and/or Environmental)Strong verbal and written communication skillsProficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoSlope, Plaxis, Settle, LPILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, SEEP/W, RockSciences Software, etc), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and other tools.Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in work environmentAbility and willingness to travel and perform field workMust successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screeningExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresUpholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policiesPreferred Qualifications:Master's Degree in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering.Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.Prior design and/or construction experience of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects.Working knowledge of applicable codes and standardsExperience managing small to mid-size projects.40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR ).Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.WSP Benefits:WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on providing health and financial stability throughout the employee's career.
