We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to drive the design and implementation of core software systems, with a primary emphasis on Python-based backend engineering. This position also offers broad technical ownership across cloud infrastructure, database architecture, external system integrations, and selected frontend development initiatives.

This opportunity is suited to an experienced engineer who combines strong software development expertise with sound architectural judgment. You will work across the full engineering lifecycle, translating business and product requirements into robust technical solutions while helping shape development standards, infrastructure decisions, and the long-term direction of the platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement backend applications, RESTful APIs, and distributed services supporting digital financial products and high-volume transaction processing.
• Develop production-grade software using Python, applying established engineering principles to ensure code quality, extensibility, and long-term maintainability. Experience with Django is a strong plus.
• Establish architectural direction for new features and platform enhancements, ensuring technical decisions support current delivery requirements and future growth.
• Build and manage AWS-based environments, optimizing cloud resources for availability, security, operational efficiency, performance, and cost.
• Drive projects from technical discovery and requirements definition through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing production support.
• Implement and maintain connections to external financial platforms, payment processors, banking partners, and third-party APIs.
• Design database structures and backend workflows that support reliable data processing, increasing workloads, and evolving application requirements.
• Collaborate with product and frontend teams, contributing to React and TypeScript development where full-stack involvement is beneficial.
• Investigate complex technical issues and implement improvements to application responsiveness, infrastructure reliability, data integrity, and security.
• Strengthen delivery practices through automated quality checks, CI/CD workflows, infrastructure monitoring, centralized logging, and production observability.
• Facilitate technical design discussions, review code and architectural proposals, and lead root-cause analysis for significant system incidents.
• Establish reusable components, engineering conventions, and consistent implementation patterns that improve productivity across teams.
• Assess technology choices and system trade-offs, balancing business value, engineering effort, delivery speed, scalability, and operational expenditure.
• Support the growth of other engineers through technical guidance, constructive code reviews, documentation, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, address emerging system limitations, and improve the overall maturity of the engineering platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building, deploying, and maintaining complex production systems.
• Advanced Python development skills, including experience designing backend applications, APIs, and service-oriented solutions; Django knowledge is preferred.
• Strong understanding of distributed application design, API architecture, asynchronous or service-based workflows, and relational data modeling.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL and operating cloud-hosted applications and services within AWS.
• Familiarity with modern frontend technologies, particularly React and TypeScript, and the ability to contribute to full-stack development as needed.
• Proven ability to take ownership of ambiguous or technically challenging projects and deliver reliable outcomes with minimal supervision.
• Experience evaluating architecture options, diagnosing production problems, and making informed decisions in environments with competing technical and business priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and business functions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a comparable field, or equivalent professional experience.

Compensation

Base Salary: $280,000–$320,000
