Location: Cincinnati, Ohio (Hybrid – 3 days on-site per week)

Compensation: Up to $115,000 base salary

About the Opportunity

Flying Horse Capital is a Dallas-based permanent capital firm that acquires and holds founder- and family-owned businesses for the long term. We also lead select leadership searches for our long-term strategic partners.

This search is on behalf of one such partner. Their accounting and finance team is growing, and this role is their first dedicated FP&A hire – a chance to build the function from the ground up alongside the CFO.

Role Overview

The Senior FP&A Analyst will own budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting, reporting directly to the CFO. You will turn financial data into clear insight that guides leadership decisions. This is a builder role: you will set up the models, processes, and reporting cadence the business will run on as it scales.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the annual budget and recurring forecast process, partnering with department leaders on inputs and assumptions

- Build and maintain the company's core financial model, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasts

- Deliver monthly budget-vs-actual and variance analysis with clear commentary on key drivers

- Develop KPI dashboards and management reporting for the CFO and leadership team

- Support board and owner reporting packages

- Run ad hoc analysis on pricing, profitability, capital spending, headcount, and new initiatives

- Partner with accounting on month-end close to ensure accurate, timely data

- Establish FP&A processes, templates, and controls that scale with the business

- Identify system and tool improvements to streamline planning and reporting

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field

- 2–7 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, public accounting, or investment banking

- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, including three-statement models

- Strong grasp of GAAP financial statements and how operating drivers flow through them

- Proven ability to explain financial results clearly to non-finance leaders

- Self-starter comfortable building processes from scratch in a growing company

- Comfortable working on-site in Cincinnati 3 days per week

Preferred

- CPA, CFA, or MBA (or progress toward one)

- Experience at a private equity–backed, founder-owned, or lower-middle-market company

- Experience with ERP and planning tools (e.g., NetSuite, Adaptive, Power BI)

Why Join

- Be the first FP&A hire and shape how the function is built

- Work directly with the CFO, with high visibility to leadership and ownership

- Grow alongside an expanding finance team, with a clear path to greater scope

- Hybrid schedule with 3 days on-site in Cincinnati
