Senior Financial Analyst – FP&A
Chicago, IL | Hybrid
A rapidly growing, acquisition-focused energy services company is adding a Senior Financial Analyst to its finance team. The company has built a strong presence across the U.S. through a highly acquisitive growth strategy and continues to expand through both organic growth and M&A.
This role sits at the intersection of FP&A, financial modeling, business performance, and M&A, giving you exposure to senior leadership, operations, investors, and acquisition activity.
What you'll do
- Own and support monthly financial analysis, including budget-to-actual, prior-period, and trend analysis.
- Maintain and enhance recurring management reporting and financial performance packages.
- Partner with Operations to monitor key business metrics and identify trends and opportunities to improve performance.
- Support the preparation of board and investor materials, including financial presentations and analysis.
- Work closely with Treasury on the weekly cash forecasting process.
- Coordinate the annual budget process, gathering inputs from leadership and numerous operating locations and consolidating information into meaningful financial analysis.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc investor and equity reporting.
- Maintain and improve financial forecasting models and tools.
- Develop an understanding of the company's key financial and value drivers.
- Support M&A and acquisition analysis, including:
- Building and maintaining financial models for potential transactions.
- Evaluating various deal structures and scenarios.
- Performing DCF and IRR analyses.
- Analyzing purchase price and transaction funding alternatives.
- Build, maintain, and improve Power BI dashboards and other financial reporting tools.
- Take on additional financial analysis and special projects as the business continues to grow.
- Travel periodically to operating locations and potential acquisition targets.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Approximately 3–5 years of experience in finance, accounting, FP&A, or a related analytical role.
- Strong Excel skills and an interest in continuing to develop advanced modeling capabilities.
- Experience working with Power BI, Tableau, or another business intelligence platform.
- Ability to build dashboards, develop complex calculations/measures, and prepare data for analysis using tools such as Power Query.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Treasury, and senior leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks or Microsoft Fabric is a plus.
Why This Role?
- Exposure to both FP&A and M&A rather than a traditional reporting-focused analyst role.
- Opportunity to work directly with senior leadership and investors.
- High visibility within a growing, acquisitive organization.
- Significant exposure to financial modeling, forecasting, valuation, and strategic analysis.
- Hybrid opportunity in downtown Chicago.
