Role Description The Senior Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Tampa, FL, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial, retail, industrial, and institutional construction projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing drawings and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, analyzing subcontractor and supplier quotes, and developing detailed cost estimates and budgets. The Senior Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to clarify scope, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure estimates align with project objectives. This role also involves leading estimate reviews, supporting bid preparation and presentations, and maintaining historical cost data and pricing databases. The Senior Estimator is expected to contribute to process improvements, mentor junior estimators, and uphold E&L’s standards of professionalism, accuracy, and integrity.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in construction estimating, cost analysis, and quantity take-offs for commercial and industrial projects.
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital tools used for bid preparation and cost tracking.
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications accurately.
- Experience collaborating with subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams to gather and evaluate pricing.
- Solid understanding of construction means and methods, building materials, and current market pricing.
- Demonstrated capability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders.
- Prior experience in a senior or lead estimator role in general contracting or construction management is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
