Senior Estimator – Responsibilities
- Prepare and complete bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects.
- Lead estimation efforts and coordinate with other Estimators, suppliers, and customers.
- Conduct quantity take‑offs, develop labor productivity and installation unit costs, and prepare detailed material and equipment listings.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre‑bid meetings to determine scope of work and estimate requirements.
- Identify and engineer cost‑saving opportunities and provide leadership to sub‑estimate personnel.
- Maintain working documents and data to back‑up estimate figures and update the approved estimating program.
- Solicit and evaluate quotes from qualified suppliers/subcontractors, ensuring completeness and conformance with plans and specs.
- Draft scope/proposal letters and provide a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing to the Chief Estimator before formal bid package issuance.
- Represent the company post‑bid, meeting with Project Management to explain job scope and critical project elements.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings.
- Perform accurate arithmetic calculations for estimating.
- Estimate all types of projects; coordinate and supervise group work.
- Mentor and assist with the development of junior Estimators.
- Identify and meet customers’ needs, expectations, and requirements.
- Proficiency with computer, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks; adapt to changing priorities.
- Work under pressure with a positive attitude.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
- Interact professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, and clients.
What You Bring to Us
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of estimating or related construction estimating experience.
- Experience with Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred.
- Experience with CAD or 3D software preferred.
- Combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable.
Travel
- Up to 10%
Working Conditions
- General work environment: sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending; primarily indoors with fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
- Noise level: low to medium; can be loud on a job site.
- Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
