Arena Staffing has partnered with a growth-focused commercial electrical contractor in Orange County that is hiring a Senior Electrical Estimator.
This is a senior estimating role for someone who has strong commercial or industrial electrical estimating experience, can own full-cycle bids, and understands how to build strong relationships with GCs, vendors, customers, and internal project teams.
The ideal candidate will come from a commercial electrical contractor, industrial electrical contractor, or similar construction environment and will be comfortable estimating tenant improvement, office, warehouse, industrial, retail, education, medical/clinic, ground-up, or mixed-use electrical projects.

Industry Focus: Commercial electrical construction, industrial electrical construction, tenant improvements, warehouse, office, retail, education, medical/clinic, ground-up, mixed‑use, and service‑related electrical work.
What you will own
- Review project plans, specifications, addenda, bid documents, and scopes of work.
- Perform detailed electrical takeoffs for lighting, power, low voltage, distribution, panels, switchgear, conduit, wire, devices, controls, and related systems.
- Prepare full electrical estimates, including labor, material, equipment, vendor pricing, subcontractor pricing, general conditions, and project-specific costs.
- Own estimates from bid intake through takeoff, pricing, vendor quote coordination, proposal preparation, and handoff to operations.
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare vendor quotes for gear, lighting, and project-specific electrical materials.
- Identify exclusions, clarifications, RFIs, scope gaps, constructability concerns, and bid risks before submission.
- Coordinate with estimating leadership, ownership, project managers, field teams, vendors, GCs, construction managers, and customers.
- Prepare bid proposals, alternates, value engineering options, change order pricing, and cost breakdowns as needed.
- Support project handoff meetings after award to ensure operations understands scope, budget, exclusions, assumptions, and risk areas.
- Manage multiple bids and deadlines while supporting a steady commercial electrical bid pipeline.
- Help maintain and build customer, vendor, GC, and construction manager relationships.
Must-have requirements
- 5+ years of commercial or industrial electrical estimating experience.
- Existing relationships with Southern California GCs, construction managers, customers, vendors, or project decision-makers.
- Experience bringing bid opportunities, customer relationships, or awarded work into a contractor.
- History producing or supporting meaningful annual awarded work.
- Experience owning full electrical estimates from takeoff through vendor quotes, pricing, proposal, and handoff.
- Strong experience estimating commercial electrical projects such as tenant improvement, office, warehouse, industrial, retail, education, service, medical/clinic, ground-up, or similar work.
- Comfortable estimating hard bid or pre-engineered plan sets from complete drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of lighting, power distribution, panels, switchgear, conduit, wire, devices, controls, low voltage, and commercial electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, specifications, addenda, bid documents, and scopes of work.
- Ability to identify scope gaps, exclusions, clarifications, RFIs, constructability concerns, and bid risks before submission.
- Strong communication skills with general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, project managers, field teams, ownership, and clients.
- Strong organization, deadline management, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Comfortable learning an in-house estimating system and using Excel, Outlook, Word, and PDF/takeoff tools.
- Local to Orange County or able to reliably work from an Orange County office.
Nice-to-have requirements
- Experience with design-build, negotiated work, budgeting, early-stage pricing, or preconstruction planning.
- Ground-up and underground electrical estimating experience.
- Experience with warehouse, industrial, hotel TI, mixed-use, storefront/apartment, office, retail, education, and medical/clinic projects.
- Prior field electrical experience or journeyman-level electrical knowledge.
- Experience with Title 24, lighting controls, CALCTP-related work, or energy-efficient electrical systems.
- Experience supporting project handoff, change orders, budget updates, or project management.
Software
In-house estimating system, must be willing to learn, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Bluebeam or similar PDF/takeoff tool preferred, AccuBid, McCormick, ConEst, Trimble, or similar estimating platform helpful, but not required
- Round 2: In-person interview with executive leadership

Compensation
Base compensation range: $130K to $150K
Stretch compensation: Up to approximately $200K for an exceptional candidate with strong relationships, senior technical estimating ability, and proven production capability.
