CTS Excavations is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to help lead our preconstruction efforts.

If you have 5–8 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction , understand what it takes to build profitable bids, and enjoy working alongside experienced operations professionals, we'd like to talk with you.

As our Senior Estimator, you'll play a key role in winning projects that shape communities throughout North Alabama and the surrounding region. From commercial site development to mass grading, and underground utilities, you'll be involved in projects that make a lasting impact.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil and excavation projects.
• Review plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for:

Earthwork

Mass grading

Storm drainage

Demolition

Concrete and paving

• Develop labor, equipment, trucking, material, and subcontractor pricing.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and project site visits.
• Prepare complete bid packages and submit proposals on time.
• Partner with Project Managers and Operations during project turnover.
• Maintain historical cost data and continuously improve estimating accuracy.
• Build strong relationships with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 5–8 years of estimating experience in civil construction, excavation, or heavy highway/sitework.
• Strong knowledge of earthwork, grading, underground utilities, and site development.
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and contracts.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids while meeting deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Experience

Experience with one or more of the following:

• AGTEK
• Procore
• Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
• GPS/Machine Control software

Field experience in heavy civil construction is a strong plus.
