Senior Equipment & Tool EngineerCompany:The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Equipment & Tool Engineer to join the Test Equipment Engineering team in Heath, OH.The Senior Equipment & Tool Engineer (Mid-Level) is responsible for analyzing, procuring, and managing spare parts and electronic components for all test stations. This role coordinates cross‑functional engineering efforts and vendor activities to support test station readiness, drives obsolescence mitigation and design updates, and leads customer presentations and approvals through a formal change working group.Position Responsibilities:Analyze spare parts and electronic component requirements for all test stations; maintain accurate spare parts lists and forecastsWork with internal functions (test engineering, design, manufacturing, procurement, quality, and logistics) to define, prioritize, and obtain required partsSource and manage relationships with outside vendors and distributors for components and assemblies; ensure delivery schedules and quality requirements are metMonitor component lifecycle and lead obsolescence risk assessments; identify alternatives, design changes, or requalification needs to mitigate obsolescence impactsCoordinate design updates and suggestions between engineers for hardware, firmware, and test station software; capture engineering change requests (ECRs) and drive engineering change notices (ECNs)Maintain and update BOMs, CAD/PLM records, and spare parts databases to reflect current configurations and approved changesPrepare and present proposed design changes, obsolescence plans, and spare parts strategies to customers and stakeholders; lead discussions with customer representativesFacilitate customer approvals through the established change working group or configuration control board; document approvals and disposition actionsSupport test station sustainment activities, troubleshoot part failures, and recommend corrective actions or upgradesEnsure compliance with company policies and relevant quality standards (e.g., AS9100), export control, and procurement proceduresTrack metrics for spare parts availability, lead times, cost, and obsolescence risk; report status to management and stakeholdersParticipate in continuous improvement activities to optimize spare parts management, reduce costs, and improve test station uptimeBasic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline5+ years of experience in test equipment support, spare parts management, procurement coordination, or obsolescence management in an aerospace, defense, or electronics environmentPractical knowledge of electronic components, assemblies, and test station hardwareExperience with engineering change processes (ECR/ECN), BOM/PLM systems, and ERP/MRP toolsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):Strong vendor management and procurement coordination experienceDemonstrated ability to present technical information to customers and lead cross‑functional change approval processesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and presentation skillsStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholdersFamiliarity with industry standards and practices for obsolescence managementExperience with contract/customer-facing change boards or working groupsCertifications such as IPC, ASQ, Six Sigma, or relevant procurement/supply chain certificationsConflict of Interest:Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.Relocation:Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
