This role combines technical engineering expertise with project management accountability to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while meeting customer and company requirements.
The Senior Engineering Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers, coordinates cross-functional internal teams, develops project schedules and budgets, supports design and engineering deliverables, manages change orders, and provides technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle. In addition, this individual will serve as a senior-level leader within the department, mentoring and developing less experienced team members, influencing project execution standards, and providing guidance on complex technical and project-related challenges. While this role does not include direct supervisory responsibility, it is expected to lead through expertise, initiative, and cross-functional collaboration.Essential Job Responsibilities:Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customer projects, managing communications, expectations, scope, schedules, and change orders throughout the project lifecycleLead projects from award through execution and closeout, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within approved budgetsDevelop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, resource assignments, and review points, and actively monitor project progressionCollaborate with internal cross-functional teams to coordinate engineering, procurement, controls, operations, and execution activitiesPartner with customers and internal teams to define technical requirements and translate them into executable project and engineering deliverablesSupport conceptual and detailed engineering efforts by providing technical input, creating or reviewing system designs, component lists, cost estimates, and required project documentationCreate, review, and support engineering deliverables including Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) in accordance with company standards and engineering best practicesManage project budgets and support equipment and component selection to align with financial targets and company margin goalsProvide technical guidance and problem-solving support to team members throughout project executionCoordinate vendor selection and support procurement activities, including vendor communication and parts selectionCommunicate project status, risks, performance, and financials to customers, internal stakeholders, and company leadership at key milestonesEvaluate completed projects to identify lessons learned and opportunities for continuous improvement in project execution and engineering practicesAdhere to and support all safety policies and guidelinesPerform other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering disciplineEight (8) years of combined experience in project management, engineering, or a related technical roleExternal customer/client management experienceKnowledge of reading contract terms & conditions, specification language, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P & IDs), General Arrangement (GA) Drawings and Electrical SchematicsStrong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressureExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong collaboration skills and ability to work across multiple departments to drive project completionProficiency with Microsoft Office and project management softwarePassion for customer relations and delivering high-quality solutionsWillingness to travel approximately 20% of the timePreferred Qualifications:PMP certification or formal project management trainingExperience in industrial water treatment or a related technical industryExperience working with EPC firmsCompensation & Benefits:The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
