Job Summary
Our client, a major airline provider, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer II to play a key role in building and enhancing cloud-native applications and data-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will leverage expertise in full stack development, Azure ecosystems, Kubernetes, and modern database technologies to deliver scalable, high-performance systems that support business growth and digital transformation initiatives.

Core Responsibilities
- Collaborates with leaders, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, technical leads and other developers, along with internal customers, to understand requirements and develop needs according to business requirements
- Maintains and enhances existing enterprise services, applications, and platforms using domain driven design and test-driven development
- Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues; identifies and implements solutions
- Creates detailed project specifications, requirements, and estimates
- Researches and implements new technologies to enhance current processes, security, and performance
- Supports the development of coding standards and adheres to best practices and security guidelines
- Works closely with software architects and technical leads to ensure decisions meet long-term enterprise growth needs
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in full stack application development and the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot for designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-scale applications
- Experience within the airline industry, with an understanding of airline operations, customer-facing platforms, or mission-critical systems
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting notification solutions, including email, SMS, push notifications, or event-driven messaging systems
- Strong experience with cloud-native development, including Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, and Docker, with the ability to deploy and manage containerized applications
- Expertise in database technologies and data platforms, including PostgreSQL, Databricks, Data Lake solutions, Azure Data Explorer (ADX), object-relational mapping (ORM), and query performance optimization
- Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and distributed services
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines, leveraging tools such as GitHub Actions, Terraform, Helm, Kustomize, and Gradle
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles, software architecture, and engineering best practices
- Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven application architectures
- Experience with modern front-end technologies such as Angular, Node.js, HTML, CSS, and Thymeleaf
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating within cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to identify, troubleshoot, and remediate application security vulnerabilities
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, and production support, including disaster recovery concepts
- Willingness to participate in an after-hours support rotation as needed
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud-native architectures
- Familiarity with Apache Kafka and event-driven integration patterns
- Experience with PostgreSQL database administration, performance tuning, and optimization
- Exposure to Data Lake environments and modern data platforms such as Databricks or Azure Data Explorer (ADX)

Work Environment
Location: Tempe, AZ
Duration: 4-months to start; will extend to a total of 8 months minimum
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $45.00 and $60.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
