Job TitleReporting to the Supervisor/Manager this position is responsible for leading the execution and coordination of engineering activities. The position is frequently involved in more complex and non-routine engineering challenges.

Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise. Reviews functional specifications for completeness and consider practical limitations. Coordinates of design activities as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers. Reviews and authenticates designs. Work planning, coordination, budgeting, and cost estimating. Develops and update single line diagrams, and design drawings, and equipment specifications. Supports material procurement as a subject matter expert. Conducts high-level QA/QC design review, close gaps and manage lessons learned. Provides technical support to field and construction groups. Utilizes, develops, and improves engineering processes and standards. Provides reporting, including presentations to work groups and senior management. Assists the Supervisor in managing engineering contractors. Participates, leads, and represents LUMA actively in industry technical activities. Acts as an expert witness or provide expert opinions as required. Position may be required to work extended hours including major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned. Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsEducation and experience: BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college. Eight years of applicable engineering experience or a combination of education and applicable engineering experience. Master's degree counts as one year.Licenses: Professional Engineering License issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects.SkillsBusiness knowledge in the utility & regulated environment. Proven experience applying sound judgment to make decisions. Strong interpersonal and relationship development skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers. Excellent team player and ability to prioritize assignments to meet commitments. Problem-solving skills with proven ability to resolve engineering issues. Mentor to junior engineers, specialists, and designers.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in related subject such as engineering, computer science, business, etc. or Graduate level work in Engineering, Business Administration or Project Management Certification.
