The FPGA Business Unit (formerly Actel) is one of the largest and most profitable business units inside Microchip, known for its award‑winning PolarFire FPGA family and the first RISC‑V based PolarFire SoC.

Product Engineering within the New Products Group (NPI) is a fast‑paced, collaborative team dedicated to new product rollout. The role involves daily interaction with a wide range of cross‑functional partners, including technology development engineers, circuit designers, logistics designers, applications engineers, and component and quality engineers.

This position provides broad exposure to, and impact on, the entire product lifecycle—covering silicon definition, design, verification, manufacturing logistics, test coverage, product qualification, yield improvement, and customer support. The successful candidate will define product reliability experiments, execute qualifications for next‑generation products, and lead the resolution of manufacturing challenges impacting product shipments.

  • Solving release‑to‑manufacturing related issues and driving corrective actions.
  • Define qualification designs, develop hardware, verify experimental test conditions, and perform data analysis.
  • Support production test flows by defining test limits, analyzing test coverage, performing root‑cause yield analysis, and ensuring datasheet compliance.
  • Validate on‑chip components such as micro‑processors, high‑speed I/O’s, eNVM, SRAM, PLL’s, and Analog I/O’s.
  • Develop software for verifying and testing FPGA/SoC products.
  • Analyze device behavior of FPGA/SoC products in both a production and engineering environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 6+ years of knowledge of semiconductor product qualifications (JEDEC).
  • 3+ years of knowledge of silicon reliability and process failure mechanisms.
  • 3+ years of applied understanding of software and hardware.
  • 1+ year of knowledge of package reliability and assembly failure mechanisms.
  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience with automation languages such as C, Python, Perl, Java, Visual Basic.
  • Comfortable using ATE, bench, and wafer test systems.

Additional Qualifications

  • Understanding of RTL (VHDL or Verilog).
  • Ability to develop FPGA designs using EAD development tools and flows is a plus.
  • Quality and goal‑oriented.
  • Excellent communication and initiative.
  • Works well in a collaborative environment.
