Onsite Full Time Engineering

Position Summary

Samsung, a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, is founded on a philosophy – the endless pursuit of excellence will create a better world for all. At the Samsung Austin Research and Development Center (SARC) and Advanced Computing Lab (ACL) we build a center of excellence for Intellectual Property (IP) applied to high‑performance computing devices – mobile, automotive, and other custom market segments consumed by millions worldwide. Come build with us!

Role And Responsibilities

As a Senior Engineer GPU RTL Design Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of complex RTL blocks and subsystems for Samsung’s next‑generation mobile GPU IPs, delivering high‑quality, scalable implementations that power premium smartphones and adjacent consumer technologies.

  • Collaborate closely with hardware and software design teams across multiple GPU functional domains – control, datapath, memory systems, and fixed‑function logic – with a focus on pixel processing and graphics pipeline stages.
  • Define and implement the microarchitecture of complex GPU blocks, translating architectural specifications into efficient, maintainable, and scalable hardware designs.
  • Drive the RTL life cycle from microarchitecture through development, integration, debug, and simulation readiness, ensuring consistent execution across projects.
  • Collaborate with verification teams to enable thorough validation, resolving functional issues and ensuring coverage, robustness, and sustainability across complex graphics processing flows.
  • Address interface definition, timing, power, performance, and area tradeoffs early in the design cycle, with strong consideration for graphics performance and pixel throughput efficiency.
  • Take initiative on moderate‑to‑complex projects, advancing best practices and exploring emerging GPU technologies and RTL design methodologies.

Skills And Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or a relevant technical field, or a Master’s degree.
  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience in semiconductor RTL design for complex SoC, CPU, or GPU architectures.
  • Expertise in Verilog/SystemVerilog, including microarchitecture development, integration, and debug.
  • Knowledge of GPU and high‑performance digital design concepts – control logic, datapath design, memory systems, and fixed‑function acceleration within graphics or pixel pipelines.
  • Ability to interpret architectural specifications and drive design tradeoffs across performance, power, and area (PPA).
  • Experience with front‑end ASIC design flows: linting, synthesis, timing analysis, and design quality checks.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for technical documentation.
  • Effective collaboration skills, navigating ambiguity in a fast‑paced, global team environment.

Our Team

The GPU Project and RTL teams at SARC/ACL own the microarchitecture development of features for Samsung’s current and next‑generation mobile GPU IPs. Our work spans core RTL design, front‑end implementation, power and performance optimization, firmware enablement, and the infrastructure needed to deliver scalable, production‑ready designs. Through cross‑functional collaboration we translate architectural concepts into high‑quality RTL that delivers market‑differentiating performance and energy efficiency. Our Xclipse GPU is the industry’s first mobile GPU with hardware ray‑tracing technology, enabling console‑level graphics on Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

You will join a diverse, highly collaborative organization working across concurrent‑development cycles, with direct impact on consumer technologies used worldwide. Here you’ll help build what’s next, experiment with new ideas, broaden technical expertise, and solve impactful challenges in a supportive environment that values collaboration, continuous learning, and growth.
