Samsung Semiconductor Inc., Wireless Connectivity Software Engineering team is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Software Engineers to design and develop embedded firmware for Samsung’s wireless connectivity solutions, focusing on MAC and physical layer modules for 802.11 based WLAN chipsets.

Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose, CA headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with 802.11 WLAN chipsets, devices and protocols, including other networking devices
  • Collaborate with wider teams to deliver end‑to‑end feature deliverables and maintain production‑quality firmware
  • Design and develop modules in embedded firmware for Samsung’s wireless connectivity solutions
  • Implement, unit‑test, and fix issues related to various features of 802.11 MAC

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or Master’s with 3+ years, or PhD with 0+ years in wireless communication technologies.
  • Excellent coding skills in C for embedded firmware development.
  • Ability to debug issues with low‑level embedded software, custom/proprietary code and enhancements.
  • Knowledge of WLAN standards, Wi‑Fi (IEEE 802.11) MAC protocols, WFA protocols and coexistence with other wireless technologies such as BT, UWB and cellular.
  • Familiarity with OFDM, OFDMA principles, beamforming and RF concepts.
  • Understanding of QoS concepts and data path optimization algorithms.
  • Understanding of the Linux operating system, kernel and device driver development.
  • Ability to use debugging tools such as Wireshark, testing tools such as WFA test beds, version control tools such as Git.
  • Knowledge of Python.
  • Experience developing firmware for wireless communication protocols (WLAN).
  • Hands‑on experience with lab equipment such as network analyzers, WFA test beds, signal generators, power meters.
  • Strong understanding of MAC and physical layer concepts, including modulation analysis.
