Job Location: Corporate Indianapolis

Principal Responsibilities

  • Sponsor all engineering issues concerning the Project during design and construction, reinforcing goals with the Project Team while respecting the project budget and schedule.
  • Manage and interview technical consultants (civil engineers, geotechnical, traffic, land surveyors) to ensure design quality and timeliness and acceptance by stakeholders.
  • Prepare detailed RFPs for land surveying, civil engineering, traffic engineering, geotechnical investigations, and other site-related services.
  • Review proposals for accuracy and completeness to meet project needs.
  • Prepare contracts and amendments, engaging consultants and managing fees within the project budget.
  • Provide ongoing budget updates to the Project Manager, including forecasted reallocations for unexpected or out-of-scope work.
  • Address Right-To-Build issues, collaborating with Development staff, counsel, and consultants to secure development/construction approvals.
  • Participate in public zoning hearings and meetings as Company representative to secure desired outcomes.
  • Coordinate intra-departmental design documents to ensure overall design adequacy and minimize construction conflicts, resolving conflicts with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate existing property issues, addressing special site engineering concerns and providing technical recommendations to management and company representatives.
  • Travel to project sites for meetings, hearings, and construction phase visits as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or Land Surveying.
  • Professional licensure preferred.
  • 15 years engineering experience in civil engineering field, site planning and design.
  • 5 years of experience supervising projects and/or managing work products of other engineers.
  • Working knowledge of all technical aspects of Civil Engineering, land surveying, and related segments of Engineering related to land development and property management.
  • Working knowledge of retail development processes and regulatory requirements for the right to build various real estate and retail projects.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, organization skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting and organizational planning.
