Job Summary
Our client, a leading airline and technology provider, is seeking a Senior Engineer - Automation to join their Technology Risk Management team. This is a 27-week contract position with a contract duration of 06/22/2026 - 12/31/2026. The role is based in Fort Worth, TX and requires a hybrid schedule with onsite work 3 days per week. Candidates should be comfortable participating in both virtual and in-person interviews.
Core Responsibilities
- Write, test, and document technical work products, including code, scripts, and processes, in accordance with organizational standards
- Design self-contained systems within the team's domain and lead the implementation of significant capabilities within existing systems
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify domain-level problems and develop action plans to improve reliability, resiliency, security, and performance
- Develop test suites and instrumentation to ensure production systems consistently meet latency, availability, observability, and supportability targets
- Evaluate potential attack surfaces and security vulnerabilities, recommend mitigation strategies, and guide implementation of security best practices
- Decompose complex technical designs into maintainable implementations that can be effectively developed by less experienced engineers
- Mentor and coach team members while identifying opportunities to introduce new approaches, improve engineering practices, and promote reusable solutions
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
- 5+ years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications across front-end and back-end environments
- 5+ years of Python development experience with proficiency in FastAPI
- 5+ years of experience developing RESTful web services. Must be local to fort worth, TX
- Experience with HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Management, and/or Azure Key Vault
- Strong understanding of software development, system design, testing, and implementation practices
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis and develop solutions focused on reliability, resiliency, security, and performance
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
- 5+ years of experience with React, TypeScript, and JavaScript
- 3+ years of experience with Terraform and Vault
- 3+ years of professional design and open-source software development experience
- 3+ years of experience with Git and GitHub
- Proficiency in object-oriented design techniques and principles
- Experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems, including shell scripting, across cloud, midrange, and distributed environments
- Experience with PostgreSQL, object/relational mapping, query performance tuning, and Azure cloud platforms

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $37.00 and $54.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
