Develops concepts, designs, and details for products, machines, tools, fixtures, and test methods. This position will have responsibilities across Cardiovascular and Specialty Solution (CSS) companies including a span of multiple product platforms such as ENT, Electrophysiology, Neurology, Vision, and Surgical and Non-Surgical Aesthetics.You Will Be Responsible For:Designs new devices based upon customer needOptimizes processes for initial and long-term scaling of new designs and processes for the designsWorks directly with other engineers and skilled technicians to build and optimize designsTests design prototypes and modifies design based upon test resultsParticipates in in vitro and in vivo device testingDocuments design and performs testing for V&V activitiesManages the transfer of manufacturing technologies from concept to pilot to full productionWorks with cross-functional quality and manufacturing teamsMotivates and mentors othersCreates IP and works with patent attorneys to ensure patents are applied forResponsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next managementResponsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies, and proceduresCompany guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicablePerforms other duties assigned as neededQualifications:Required:BS in physics, chemistry, biology, mechanical, electrical, biomedical engineering, or related field4 or more years of engineering work experience in a Medical Device industry2 years experience with preclinical models; preferable in the Cardiovascular fieldAbility to perform "active involvement" in the solution of problems and problem resolutionCapacity to solve problems by using good engineering principlesAbility to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele baseAbility to travel up to 10%, domestic and internationalPreferred:Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Strong knowledge of CAD software including SolidWorksAble to interpret 2D engineering drawingUnderstanding of quality standards pertaining to medical deviceExperience with statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE)Knowledge of engineering materials such as nitinol, precious metals, and/or polymers and manufacturing techniques related to the materialsDemonstrated knowledge of process engineering principles for manufacturing is highly desiredAbility to work with patent attorneys to secure IPOther:This position is full time onsite, 5 days a week in Irvine, CAAbility to travel up to 10%, domestic and internationalJohnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Additional Description for Pay Transparency: The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
