Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to join its practice in Baltimore, MD. This role offers a first-chair opportunity in Maryland's energy transition, representing clients in significant matters before the Maryland Public Service Commission.

Duties

  • Lead regulatory work, including CPCN permitting for energy projects.
  • Handle utility rate cases and major contested proceedings.
  • Engage in regulatory and policy matters, including rulemakings and legislative initiatives.
  • Address issues such as interconnection, energy storage, and community solar.

Requirements

  • First-chair experience in contested regulatory, administrative, or judicial proceedings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maryland barred or eligible to waive into the Maryland bar.
  • Significant experience in energy, environment, and public utility law, ideally 6+ years.
  • Experience appearing before the Maryland Public Service Commission; FERC or other state utility commissions experience valued.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Maryland or eligible for waiver.
