Senior Flight Software Engineer (Rust)

$155K to $180K+ base, plus equity and relocation

I've personally placed 4 embedded Rust folks in this team over the past 12 months and now we're expanding flight software capabilities to help build the next generation of their satellite product.

My client builds satellites end to end, from components up to full spacecraft, and they’ve got a constellation already flying. New satellites go up this month. More in the spring. The next generation after that is a big leap in capability, and the flight software team is the one making it happen. All of the flight software is built in Rust, and we need embedded Rust engineers to help make it happen.

They’re hiring 3 senior engineers to own the next generation of their flight software and we're engaging the Rust community to make it happen.

What you’d be doing:

• Designing and building embedded flight software from requirements through to on-orbit
• Command and control for flight ops, payloads and the electronics around them
• Getting serious data moving off the spacecraft. Throughput is the current bottleneck and they need someone who loves that kind of problem
• Leading test campaigns, unit level up to full system
• Raising the bar for the engineers around you through reviews and mentoring

What they’re looking for:

• 6+ years building high-reliability software, with at least a year or two in Rust
• Embedded, systems or low-level networking work. If your Rust is deep, a lighter embedded background is fine
• Comfortable close to the hardware: Linux, RTOS or bare metal
• Async Rust is a plus, not a dealbreaker
• Space experience is great. Not required
• US person (ITAR)
