Hybrid Full Time Engineering

Overview

Senior Embedded / Firmware Engineer (Edge AI / Connected Devices)

Bay Area

Hybrid

Up to $250,000 pa

We’re working with a fast-moving team building next-generation intelligent devices at the intersection of embedded systems, edge AI, and real-world deployment.

This is a hands-on role for engineers who enjoy working close to hardware, bringing up new systems, writing robust firmware, and shipping products that operate reliably outside the lab.

If you’ve built systems that interact with the real world, sensors, cameras, connectivity, or edge ML, this is the kind of environment where you’ll thrive.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software and firmware across Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal systems
  • Work closely with hardware teams on board bring-up, debugging, and system integration
  • Develop low-level drivers, BSPs, and interfaces for sensors, cameras, and connectivity modules
  • Build and optimise systems for performance, power, and reliability in production environments
  • Contribute to tooling, testing, and CI/CD workflows for embedded systems
  • Collaborate across teams (hardware, ML, systems) to bring end-to-end products to life

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience in embedded systems / firmware engineering (typically 7+ years)
  • Solid programming skills in C/C++, with Python or similar for scripting/tooling
  • Experience across Linux, RTOS (e.g. Zephyr, FreeRTOS), and/or bare-metal environments
  • Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up and debugging (oscilloscopes, logic analysers, etc.)
  • Experience developing device drivers and working with peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)
  • Understanding of system-level concepts (boot flows, memory, concurrency, real-time constraints)
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments

Nice to have

  • Experience with edge AI / ML deployment, computer vision, or audio systems
  • Background in robotics, IoT, or connected devices
  • Familiarity with wireless or networking technologies (BLE, WiFi, cellular, mesh)
  • Experience with embedded Linux build systems (Yocto, Buildroot)
  • Exposure to custom silicon, accelerators, or SoC environments
