GPI is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Building Systems team in Suffern, NY. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse public- and private-sector projects while designing innovative, sustainable, and energy-efficient building systems.
You’ll collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams to develop electrical solutions from concept through construction while gaining exposure to a variety of challenging projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design electrical building systems, including lighting, power distribution, and low- and medium-voltage systems.
- Develop electrical plans, specifications, and construction documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Perform load calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection.
- Coordinate designs with architects, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines.
- Conduct field surveys to document existing conditions and monitor construction progress.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction-phase support.
- Assist with project schedules, budgets, client coordination, and overall project delivery.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, building codes, standards, and energy requirements.
What You Bring to the Table
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5–10 years of electrical building systems design experience.
- EIT and/or PE preferred.
- Strong AutoCAD experience; Revit/BIM experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), building codes, and energy standards.
- Experience with lighting design, power distribution, and electrical system coordination.
- Strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to successfully collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams.
