nSFCS is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Louisville, KY office. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and planners in a multidisciplinary environment while leading the design of impactful projects across a variety of market sectors.
nThis opportunity is ideal for an advanced electrical engineering professional who enjoys leading complex building system designs, mentoring team members, and collaborating with clients and project teams to deliver innovative, practical, and code-compliant solutions.
nQualifications
nBachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
nProfessional Engineer (PE) license required, with the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states.
nAdvanced experience designing electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, senior living, education, government, and institutional facilities.
nExtensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, International Building Code (IBC), and other applicable codes and standards.
nExperience designing electrical power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage building systems.
nProficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
nExperience preparing technical specifications and construction documents.
nStrong written and verbal communication skills.
nExcellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
nDemonstrated ability to mentor and support the professional development of engineering team members.
nResponsibilities
nLead the design and coordination of electrical systems for new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse projects.
nCollaborate with architects, clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams to develop practical, cost-effective, and code-compliant electrical solutions.
nParticipate in project planning, electrical system selection, feasibility studies, and preliminary cost estimating.
nPerform field investigations and evaluate existing electrical systems for renovation and reuse.
nPrepare schematic design, design development, construction documents, technical specifications, and engineering calculations.
nDevelop contract documents utilizing the latest versions of Revit and AutoCAD.
nCoordinate electrical systems with structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, civil, and architectural disciplines.
nProvide construction administration services, including shop drawing review, responses to RFIs, site observations, evaluation of proposed changes, and review of contractor cost proposals.
nMentor and provide technical guidance to early career and experienced engineering staff.
nBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
nStay current with evolving building codes, technologies, and industry best practices while contributing to continuous improvement within the practice.
nWillingness and ability to travel periodically in support of project assignments, client meetings, site visits, and collaboration across SFCS offices.
