Position: Sr. Electrical Engineer– Electrical Computer‑Aided Designer (ECAD)

Location: Tucson, Arizona (Onsite)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs from conception to manufacturing
  • Creation of the PCB, Circuit Card Assembly (CCA), and schematic drawings for suppliers
  • Schematic capture, component placement, routing of traces, and Gerber/ODB++ file creation
  • Utilize Siemens Xpedition Enterprise and DownStream BluePrint for design layouts (Rigid, Flex, and Rigid‑Flex assemblies)
  • Work on full designs, re‑spins, drawing updates, change notices, copper changes, and process improvement projects within and outside own discipline
  • Daily interface with engineering levels and disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Components, Test, Producibility) to capture overall design requirements while keeping cost, cycle time, and producibility in mind

Qualifications

  • Degree in a STEM discipline and at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with PCB manufacturing or CCA manufacturing principles affecting circuitry and component layout
  • Experience with RF layout techniques and the electrical design process
  • Knowledge of analog, digital (DDR), RF, power, and mixed technology, including multi‑layer designs with high density interconnect (HDI)
  • Technical PCB design skills using the Siemens design toolset (Xpedition Layout, schematic capture, placement, routing, auto‑router, constraint manager, library tools, and BluePrint) and ability to transfer skills from Altium
  • Export manufacturing data in Gerber and ODB++ formats
  • Use of Valor NPI, design‑for‑manufacturing rule sets, and other design rule checking software
  • Understand and interpret drawings related to PCBs and CCAs
  • Familiarity with IPC6012 & IPC6013, military and commercial design standards, GD&T techniques, and producibility considerations
  • Knowledge of RF circuitry and filter design, with attention to key factors when laying out the board
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with engineers of all levels
  • Ability to multi‑task, improve processes, systems, or products, and work autonomously with schedule and priority decisions
  • Self‑starter, proactive, and able to apply qualities to complementary disciplines with minimal supervision
  • Working knowledge of operating system concepts and Microsoft Windows suites
  • Willingness to work extended hours (nights and/or weekends) as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional experience with Analog, Digital (DDR), RF, Power, and mixed technology including high density interconnect (HDI) technology
  • Proficiency in advanced Siemens toolset, auto‑router usage, constraint management, and BluePrint for complex PCB and CCA drawings
  • Design rule checking, rule set enforcement, and manufacturability evaluation across military and commercial standards

Security Clearance

Active Secret DoD security clearance required. Eligibility to obtain a security clearance is mandatory for this role.
